This pre-Civil War tool was up for sale on Ebay a few years ago.

The toll has a 19 1/2-inch long auger with a 13-inch oak or hickory handle. Stamped on the square part of the bit is "Ford, Parmelee & Co 3" and "Patent Mar. 27, 1847."

The tool will bore a 3/4-inch diameter hole.
