GRIST MILL DAM: Robert Parmley (1789-1875)

In Wayne County, Ky., on the Little South Fork (of the Cumberland River), Robert, right, built a dam in conjunction with his grist mill about a quarter of a mile from his house. I have no picture of the mill, but it is mentioned in the 1830 county court minutes. The top left photo was taken when repairs were made on the dam about 1900. The color photo shows what the dam looked like in 2004.
