PARMELE THEATER: Plattsmouth, Nebr.

These theater has some tie-in with Vermont half-brothers Elam K. and Calvin House Parmelee [Quartus, Giles, Jeremiah, Lemuel, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, John, John] who arrived in Plattsmouth, Nebr., shortly before the Civil War. Calvin was a farmer and well-to-do merchant in town; Elam was a farmer and builder.

Dave Nelson of Bellvue, Wash., informed me in December, 2005, that the theater -- and the Hotel Kelly and a bank -- burned to the ground in the late 1950s or early '60s according to his wife, who was born and raised in Plattsmouth.
