To the left of Melvin is James Wilber Parmely (1864-1922) and to the right of Elizabeth is Edwin Sylvester Parmely (1868-1927).

Melvin, a Civil War pensioner, was born in Missouri and lived in Cobb, Iowa County, Wisc., and Hawkeye, Fayette County, Iowa, much of his life. He died at Miller, Hand County, S.D.
